Perception
Human Perception
Bodies, hands, gait-scale motion, and millimeter-wave sensing when the face is not the only signal.

Identity and behavior are not only in the eye. The group works on occlusion-robust biometric graphs, monocular hand-object reconstruction, and skeleton-based action recognition. A CVPR 2025 Highlight paper takes a prototypical view of which joint details actually separate two actions.
When a camera is the wrong sensor, millimeter-wave radar is used instead. BiommWave recognizes people without a visual image. CUHeart monitors cardiac motion in unconstrained scenes at a resolution related to ECG. Earlier multimedia work fused radar and video for affective and psychological sensing.
These threads share the same aim as the iris systems: perceive a person who is not posing for the algorithm.
